Owen Coyle | Doc OC The OC |
Former Airdrie, Bolton, Arabs
and everybody bloody else striker, was appointed at the age of 38 as
Saints manager on a 2-yr contract on April 15th 2005. Always a hate
figure amongst Saints fans when he played against us there's no doubting
he has a wealth of knowledge of the game and has been co-manager at
Falkirk and assistant at Airdrie as well as looking after the Utd
reserves. Either way you look at it his appointment was a big gamble. After a successful first season signed an extension in April 2006 through to May 2009 with another a year later to 2010. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to stop the lure of England and when Championship club Burnley came calling in November 2007 he left to take over the managerial reins there on the 22nd. Still at least he leaves with all the best after giving us two semi-finals and almost the title in 2006-07. |

attacker. Saints couldn't afford to keep him and in May 2007 joined Swansea. |
|

really. Signed for Brechin in July. |
![]() |

![]() |
Jim Weir | Cap'n Jim(actually that's now Manager Jim) | Signed from Hearts in 1994
and is now captain of the team. Not the greatest of players but an
excellent motivator and dedicated - eg playing on v Scumdee with a
smashed nose. Rarely scores but has been one of the surprises of the
return to the Premier with a string of excellent performances. Proved
his loyalty to Saints by signing a new 3 year deal in April 98 then
suffered an Achilles injury which has kept him on the sidelines since
then but is back in reserve action. Had his testimonial in May 2004 and on the 26th was appointed no2 to John Connolly which meant hanging up his boots. Appointed caretaker when Connolly was sacked in April 2005 and returned to the assistant's role when Owen Coyle took charge, extending his contract through to May 2009. After 12 and a half years with Saints he left in February 2007 with everyone's best wishers, to take up the manager's reins at Montrose. Villa as a 17yr old. But after spending 2003-04 on loan to Clyde he

Signed a 3-month deal with Falkirk in October which was extended until the end of the season before they twigged he was useless as well and released him in May 2005. Went to airdrie but only lasted a month there before Stranraer and then the Scum in Jan 2006. Vanished. |

Paddy Connolly | Paddy Thingy - mainly because no-one ever
notices him. Lazarus - comeback king. |
£300,000 signing from Airdrie in March 1998, 27yr
old Connolly is yet another ex-Arab to join up again with Sturrock in
Perth. Having been tracked by Saints for a while, injury kept him out of
the first team but his form has been found sadly lacking in the Premier
League. Since August 1999 has been sent on loan to various clubs as Saints try to offload the player. August 2000 - after a few months back at McD he's off on loan to Ayr Utd. May 2001 - signed a new 3-year deal - 2nd coming? Made a few appearances this season and even scored the odd goal. Told in May 2004 he would'nt get a new deal. Tommy Løvenkrands | Tommy Love,Great Dane | Legendary trialist from Roddy
Grants testimonial in Nov 99, it took until May 2000 before the Danish
left winger signed a 3-yr deal in a move from AB Copenhagen. Still he
made a big impression in the testimonial game with his speed and
crossing ability - hopefully he'll turn it on for Saints. Failed to do so and on March 29 2003 was reported as signing a pre-contract agreement to a 3-yr deal back in Denmark with Esbjerg. Move was confirmed 2 days later by Saints. Still once of the nice guys and you couldn't fault him for effort in his time here - all the best Tommy. Left on 17/04/03 before the season ended. Retired through injury in 2007 and is now a painter. |

Eventually signed a 3-year contract on 11/07/2000. No fee was involved but has struggled with injury.Went on trial to Grimsby at the start of the 2002-03 season but returned to Saints. Left at the start of October 2002 "by mutual consent". Summer 2003 signed a short-term deal with Carlisle. |

Nick Dasovic | Dazza | A free signing from
Trelleborg, 27 year old Dasovic is a defensive midfielder with a crap
hairstyle / facial fuzz. Although of Croatian parents, Dazza is a 20-cap
Canadian internationalist and despite his failed rock star image is a
popular player with the support, mainly because he always gives 100%.
April 98 saw the player sign a new 2-year contract. Scored in the
semi-final against Hearts in the League Cup and in the Final and the
winner in the Parkhead win. Signed a new 2-yr contract in April 2000. Left at the end of the 2001-02 season as Saints cut costs and the age of their squad. Now the coach of the U-21 Canada side. |
![]() |
John Paul McBride | Pope - pretty obvious really. | 20 year old attacking
midfielder. Joined Saints from Celtic in Feb 99 as Sandy Clarks first
signing for £200,000 on a 3 and a half year contract. Lack of
fitness has been a problem but he's undoubtedly talented. Failed to establish himself in the first team and was freed in May 2002. Last seen on trial with Aarhus in Denmark. Had a season at Partick and in July 2004 went on trial with Morton. Overall it seems his lazy git attitude has been more of a problem than anything. Pity. Followed up with a spell at Stenhousemuir before joining Stirling. |

Henry Hall | Saints legendary star from the 70s is now the full-time
youth coach at McDiarmid having signed a 2-year contract in April 2000

the ugliest players in the game, but a good hard player who can score

Darren Jackson | Wacko - the new polite nickname | Well-travelled and a surprise signing at the start of
the 2001-2002 season on a 1-yr deal - been winning the fans over with a
bit of a hunger for the game. Failed to start any games under Billy Stark after a couple of months out with a back injury and on 18/01/02 had his contract terminated by mutual consent. |

Sandy Clark | St. Sandy | Ex-Hamilton, Hearts and Partick manager who took over
from Judas Sturrock on Sept 7th 1998. A good reputation for bringing on
youngsters. At the press conference when he took over, he announced that
he wanted to play "attractive attacking football and win with flair".
51 days later Saints were in the League Cup Semi final having
lost one game but scored 23 goals !!!!# Signed a 2-year extension in Dec 2000 but a run of only 2 wins in 24 games saw the board sack him in Sept 2001. Sandy had been at the club for just over 3 years and whilst it's sad to see his managerial career with Saints end on such a sour note (especially after all the promise of a youth policy and sexy football), let's hope the fans remember some of the good times he brought us. A League Cup final, Scottish Cup semi-final, wins over both halves of the OF and of course the delights of Monaco and Vaasa in the UEFA Cup. Unfortunately poor relations with the fans meant that time wasn't on his side and a poor run of only 2 wins in 24 games in 2001 ended his career. The Temple wishes him well though and thanks for the memories of the cup final, that semi at Easter Rd and the best Saints party ever in O'Malleys Bar. July 2003 got a job coaching the Pars and was punted from there in July 2004. Took over at Berwick Rangers in Oct 2004. |

Mohamed Sylla | "Our Sylla" - as in Scouse ITV Star Mighty Mo MoMo Le Mo |
After impressing greatly at right-back in the
pre-season friendly against Norwich in July 2000, Saints signed the
Ivory Coast-born Guinee international days later. 23-yr old and with 6 "A"
caps for his country "Our" Sylla was previously with French
clubs Le Havre and Le Mans. Signed a 3-year contract and made his competitive debuit against Rangers on 29/07/00 - turning into the major cult hero of the season so far although his best position is definitely in midfield. After winning the player of the year award in the 2001 Tossas a decent performance in the opening match of the season at Parkhead saw Martin "Token Irishman" O'Neill snap him up for £750,000 at the start of August. A deal which grates but thanks for the memories Mo. Moved to Leicester in 2005 and then to Killie in January 2007. |

Gary Bollan | Lardboy - he's a fat git | Ex-Dundee Utd, he was signed in Feb 98 as
the first purchase from the money received for Callum Davison with £100,000
going to Ibrox where Bollan had wasted the last 3 years. A good
left-back he suffered from injury but won the left-back slot in the team
when Preston was injured. Scored his first goal for Saints with a lethal
free-kick against the Scum in Dec 98. After 2 good seasons a disappointing 3rd saw him leave for Hearts for a "nominal fee" on 30/03/01. In a further twist the player failed a medical so no move is likely before the summer. Made an appearance at left-back against Aberdeen in April but a total lack of fitness means his bridges at the club are well and truly burnt - finally pissed off to Livingston at the end of June. |

Nathan Lowndes | Kid Goals Ginger Bomber |
21yr old striker signed in
August 98 from Watford after impressing in a trial. Previously played
for Leeds as a youth but after a £10,000 move to Watford failed to
break into the first team on a regular basis. He grabbed 2 against Hibs
in the cup on his home debut and followed it up with a cracker against
the Sheep 2 weeks later. Currently out with a back injury until December 2000. Refused to sign a new contract and signed for Livingston in May 2001. Unfortunately he quickly found out the grass wasn't any greener and left a year later to join Sturrock at Plymouth. Signed for Port Vale in November 2004 then Chester City |

Kevin Thomas | Messiah - we've waited that long on his coming. | Ex-star of the Hearts youth
team and former protege of St. Sandy's Kevin signed in a £150,000 4
year deal from Morton on 20/08/99. Kevin is a 24-yr old 5' 11" striker who was part of the Jambos youth cup-winning side of a few years ago. He's also a former Scotland U-21 international. Made his starting debut against Aberdeen on 29/08/99 and scored the first in a 3-0 win. Oct 2000 - a cruciate ligament injury has ruled him out until summer 2001. Found guilty of gross misconduct along with George O'Boyle at a club inquiry in Jan 2001 after allegations of cocaine taking in a Perth bar before Xmas. George O'Boyle | Georgio - its the Brazilian influence | Stolen from the Pars for
200,000 as a replacement for Billy Dodds in Summer 94, Georgio is Saints
top scorer. Excellent player and now a full N Ireland international.
Suffered recently from off-the-field antics and a damaged reputation
amongst the supporters. Has been out injured with the 2nd cruciate
ligament injury of his career since summer 98 but should be returning to
first team action in Oct 2000. Found guilty of gross misconduct along with Kevin Thomas at a club inquiry in Jan 2001 after allegations of cocaine taking in a Perth bar before Xmas. His contract was terminated meaning a poor end to his Saints career. Legal proceedings are still ongoing. Now playing junior football. |

Kieran McAnespie | Keyring | Born in 1980 and a product of
the youth team who has managed a few sub appearances so far this year.
Made regular appearances on the bench in the latter half of the season.
After frequent appearances for the Scotland U18 and U19 sides, he made
his debut for the U21's against Finland in April 98. Was also taken
along to France 98 as one of the Scotland squad kit-boys and played (and
scored) for the team in a closed-doors bounce match in the USA warmup -
The next big thing for Saints.? Scored in the 2-1 win over Celtic. Still technically registered with the club as of July 2000 but has made it plain he wants away - won't be missed that much. Returned after a failed trial in Norway to try his luck at Fulham who he signed for for £80,000 on 07/08/00. A loan spell at Hearts followed and in March 2002 went on loan to Bournemouth. After another spell at Plymouth he was freed in the summer of 2003. After a trial signed a 2-yr deal with Falkirk. Was released by the Bairns in Oct 2004 and signed for Saints until the end of the season. May 2005 he accepted another 6-month deal but injuries limited his appearances and he left again in Dec. Signed for Ayr until summer 06, then had a year at Alloa before signing for Morton in summer 2007. |

Allan Preston | Il Biscotti - Italian for Biscuits and the source of an entire cult. | Biscuits was signed from
Dunfermline in a swap for Alan Moore. Can play in midfield but has been
used as left-back most of the time. Christened OUTLET sinceNov
97 when he scored at Ibrox. Also immortalised in the new catchphrase
FORZA IL BISCOTTI !!!!! Basically the utility squad
player we expected to see on the bench in the Premier League but has
been one of our most consistent performers. Was rewarded for his Premier
performances with a new 2 year contract in April 98. Scored the goal of
the season in the League Cup semi-final against Hearts to give further
boost to the BISCUITS FOR SCOTLAND campaign. Unfortunately that saw the start of some serious injury problems which led to Biscuits having to give up the game in April 2000 due to severe arthritis in his hip at the age of 30. Played 136 games for Saints over 6 years and easily one of the most popular players at the club. He's aiming to get his coaching badge and everyone wishes him well. As of June 2000 he was heading to Macclesfield Town to join ex-Saintee and manager of the English club Peter Davenport as a coach. Returned to McD to say his farewells at a testimonial for him where Saints took on Bradford. Eventually became coach at Livvy and took over as manager in June 2004 - from where he was sacked 6 months later. Now an agent, pundit and all-round nice guy. |

Stephen Robertson | Robbo | Product of the youth scheme.
Made his first-team debut last season and played a few times for the
first team - fairly good keeper but still second-choice to Jesus. Signed
a new 1yr contract in May 97. Has been tipped for future Scotland U-21
honours. Played in several Premier matches in 97-98 including the 2-1
defeat at the Death Star. Signed a new one year contract in June 2000 after some excellent performances in the previous season. Unfortunately a knee injury in the October means his season is over already. Freed by Saints in May 2001. |

Philip Scott | Phizzy | Phizzy is probably the only
youth player to ever come out of the Totten era. Scotland U-21 cap he
improved greatly last season despite injury. Confidence is a problem and
some nasty injuries haven't helped but Phizzy is turning into an
excellent midfielder - rated in the £1m class by the meedja. After a period of inconsistency he moved to Sheff Wed in March 1999. With Bosman meaning no fee in the summer only £100,000 was received by the club. Never the most popular of players he does have plenty of ability. Released by the Owls 3-years later after failing to establish himself at the club. Injury prone for most of his time down south he announced his retirement due to injury in July 2003 at the age of 28. |

David Xausa | Canadian striker who despite only being 22 has already rejected Sporting Lisbon, and been capped at U-20 and U-23 level for his country. The Portuguese move was rejected because he wanted to study at Uni in the States but he has been rated as one of the best youngsters in Canada. The 6ft tall striker signed in Feb 98 until the end of the season after being rejected in a trial at Stoke. Signed a 1yr deal in May 98 and has been called up to the Canadian full squad. Released in Jan 99 having failed to make even the first team squad. Moved to Inverness and now at Livingston..

Charlie King | Chucky | 17yr old striker who has
played a few games for the first team due to injuries amongst more
senior players. Hopefully will get a chance to shine in the reserves
this season for a first-team breakthrough next year - "The new
Charlie Nicholas" according to Roy Aitken. Nicknamed Chucky. Signed a new 2-year contract in May 98 but after a loan spell at Livingston signed for them for a nominal fee in Dec 98 believed to be around £30,000. Went on to Brechin. |

Paul Sturrock | JUDAS | Ex-Manager and ex-all-round nice guy. Was in charge
since Nov 93. Rated as one of the best young managers in Scotland and
after both Aberdeen and Hibs made moves to get him he signed a 4 year "golden
handcuffs" deal in Feb 98 - not that that will stop the meedja
mentioning his name every time a so-called "big" club dump
their manager. Left Saints to take over at his old club Tannadice on Sept 4th 1998, a day which Saints chairman Geoff Brown the events had left him "sick". Managed in one afternoon to single-handedly wipe out all the goodwill at the club and now probably the most loathed person in Scotland by Saints supporters. Eventually quit them and now at Plymouth. Left Plymouth after treating them as well as us to take over at Southampton in March 04 |

John Blackley | Asst Manager - has a very loud mouth - especially when
shouting at the players if Saints are getting beaten. Favourite shout is
"Danny! Danny!" followed by some strange hand gestures - this
is usually ignored by the players. Banned from the dugout for most of
the 1997-98 season after trying to murder ref Shug Dallas at the end of
the controversial 1-0 defeat by Celtic in the Coca-Cola Cup. Quit to join Judas Sturrock in Sept 1998. Stayed on when Sturrock left but has since gone to Plymouth. |

Callum Davidson | Young left-back who was the first real star of the Sturrock youth policy to break through. Scotland U-21 international and tipped by many as a future captain of his country. Hugely popular with the support he signed for Blackburn Rovers in Feb 98 for a club record £1.75 million. Went to Leicester but freed in 2004.

Steve Tosh | 24-yr old signing from Arbroath. Had some success in
the First Division but struggled to find form in the Premier League.
Moved on to Raith Rovers in March 98 for £30,000, then to Livvy. Released by Livvy after an impressive SPL season in 2002 and joined Falkirk then to Aberdeen. |

Thomas "Saviour" Andersson | Second result of the 97 Great Striker search, 29yr old Thomas comes from Swedish 1st Div club Vasteras where he has been their top scorer (57 in 121 games). So keen to play in Scotland he left his family for Xmas to move to Perth. Signed until summer '98. Nicknamed "Fyndnet" (the Find) after his discovery in the Swedish lower leagues. Eventually left in May after failing to get a first team place.

Attila Sekerlioglu | Dino | 32 year old Austrian/Turkish defender / midfielder signed in Dec 95 and became a cult favourite with the fans. Well-known for his final whistle celebrations with fans and his collection of multi-coloured boots !! A bit prone to hot-headedness at times as shown by the now legendary "gob" incident with John Davies and the clashes with Lavety at the last Hivbees match. Signed a 6-mth |
