(Gourock) - Back to Ref League Table
- 27/02/99 - Dundee v Saints 17 (4
votes)- Booked O'Halloran for nothing but let Adamcheat off for a
similar high challenge on McQ - the fact that this would have been the
2nd bookable offence escaped him. Suffered from some poor assitants as
well as shown by the number of dodgy offsides.
Jim Herald
(Newton Mearns) - Back to Ref League Table
Mike McCurry
(Wegieland) - Back to Ref League Table
- 23/08/98 - Dundee v Saints 12 (4
votes) - Apart from booking 4 Saints players to only one of the
Scum in what was a fairly non-confrontational match he blotted his
copybook with the red card for Georgio for attempting to avoid the
hacking attentions of Adamczuk.
- 23/09/98 - Celtic v Saints 25 (4
votes) - Well he didnt give them any penalties and did allow the
game to flow so we'll be nice.
- 21/11/98 - Aberdeen v Saints 20 (3
votes)- Only one booking ( a sheep). Turned down a Saints penalty
and wasn't helped by a crap linesman but overall one of the better
performances of the season given the conditions.
- 06/03/99 - Motherwell v Saints 8 (3
votes) - Shite. Booked Spencer for a hack but let their defence
away with murder including elbows on most of the Saints forwards. Almost
Dougalesque.
- 20/04/99 - United v Saints 8 (2
votes) - Not a bad performance given the dreadful condirtions and
deserves a mark for at least letting a Saints win go ahead without
abandoning the match. However the red card for Nathat was not deserved -
neither offence merited a yellow card especially with what the Arabs got
away with in the first half.
- Saints v Dundee 86 (13 votes)
- OK performance but since we qualified for Europe let's face it we
couldn't care less.
Hugh Dallas
(Motherwell) - Back to Ref League Table
- 29/08/98 -Rangers v Saints 19 (4
votes) - Couple of dodgy penalty incidents (which favoured
Rangers all the time) but given his last match in charge not a bad game.
Pity you couldn't say the same about the team.
- 24/10/98 - Killie v Saints 30 (5
votes) - 4 bookings for Saints players but the Ayrshire men
escaped everything despite committing more fouls in a clean match.
Redeemed himself slightly at the end by turning down the Killie penalty
claim.
- 29/11/98 - Rangers v Saints (League Cup Final) 23
(7 votes)- Only one booking in a pretty clean game but it was for
a Saintee and given the treatment Georgio and Miguel were getting it
seemed harsh. Still the TFOD were booing him at the end so he must be
doing something right.
- 20/02/99 - Hearts v Saints 19 (5
votes) - Couple of strange decisions including allowing a Jambo
treatment on the park yet forcing Nathan to go off and changing his mind
about goal kicks. Still he didn't fall for any of Hamiltons diving
tricks and tried to let the game flow.
- 04/04/99 - Saints v Rangers 30 (5
votes) - Tried to let the game flow once more but showed a rather
worrying phobia about booking any of TFOD - no matter how many attempts
they had at beheading Saints players.
Alan Freeland
(Sheepville) - Back to Ref League Table
- 01/08/98 - Motherwell v Saints 17 (5
votes) - Red carded Paul Kane which was justified but then had a
nightmare with soft bookings for Saints players whilst Motherwell got
away with murder.
- 09/12/98 - Saints v Hearts 21 (5
votes) - Pretty dire performance with no red card for Ritchie.
Still at least he awarded the penalty when needed.
- 26/12/98 - TFOD v Saints 29 (4
votes) - Good performance and gave the 400 Saints fans the sight
of a miracle when Hendry was red-carded for handling in the box. Not
helped by a couple of crap linesman but overall a good performance.
- 23/01/99 - Saints v Forfar 19 (6
votes) - Crap. Far too many soft free kicks awarded whilst seemed
totally ignorant of the advantage rule.
Eric
Martindale (Wegieland) - Back to Ref League
Table
- 14/11/98 - Saints v Celtic22 (5
votes) - Inconsistent but at least applied it to both teams.
Turned down a couple of valid Saints penalty claims and let Mahe and
Boyd away with punches all over the place but then booked Miguel for
scoring a goal.
- 29/12/98 - Saints v Pars 12 (3
votes) - Crap game. Awarded a non-existent penalty to the Pars
whilst turning down 2 Saints claims. Add to that the booking of Dasovic
for a nothing challenge whilst Britton escaped with his diving all night
and Smith was allowed judicious use of the elbows and its easy to see
why we're angry.
George Simpson
(Westhill)Back to Ref League Table
- 08/08/98 - Saints v Stranraer21 (3
votes) - No bookings in what was a fairly calm match. Not helped
with some of the decisions by a pair of incompetent linesmen who had a
strange understanding of the offside rules. Still let the game flow.
- 12/09/98 - Saints v Dunfermline19 (5
votes) - Some diabolical decisions and an incredible degree of
inconsistency which helped spoil a good match and give the Pars an
undeserved point through a controversial penalty. Booking Son of Zorro
for challenging a 50/50 ball didn't help either.
- 05/12/98 - Dundee Utd v Saints 18 (4
votes)- Gave us a penalty but that was the only redeeming feature
in a game where he was crap for both sides. Allowing play to go on when
both Eusebio and Dasovic were lying injured was diabolical.
Garry Mitchell
(Arbroath)Back to Ref League Table
- 15/08/98 -Saints v Killie 11 (4
votes) - Managed to avoid sending off Killie players despite them
giving plenty of opportunity with Martin Baker and Paul Wright the worst
offenders. Wasn't helped by either linesman but a pretty woeful
performance.
- 04/10/98 - Hearts v Saints 27 (6
votes) - Fairly good game and kept hold of the Jambo divers
although how Salvatori remained on the park and Naysmith escaped a
booking I'll never know.
Willie Young
(Clarkston) - Back to Ref League Table
- 08/09/98 - Saints v Hibs 15 (2
votes) - A dodgy booking for McMahon and somehow Rougier was
allowed to stay on the park but overall a good enough performance. Maybe
Saints winning 4-0 colours the view somewhat !!
- 27/10/98 - Saints v Hearts (LC Semi) 43
(8 votes) - A couple of soft booknigs for Lowndes and Kane but
otherwise a fairly quiet game.
- 19/12/98 - Motherwell v Saints 4 (2
votes)- Absolutely dire game. Seemed totally unwilling to let any
sort of play flow and how Spencer remained on the park after his
constant use of the elbows remains a mystery. And as for finding 5
minutes injury time.....
- 17/04/99 - Saints v Hearts 8 (5
votes) - Crap but not helped by some useless linesmen. How he
missed the challenges on Roddy and the mugging of Main escapes me.
Kevin Bissett
(Inverness) - Back to Ref League Table
Dougie McDonald
(Edinburgh)- Back to Ref League Table
- 13/03/99 - Saints v Killie 19 (7
votes - 1 Killie)- Hopefully the last time we see this arse and
his incompetent assistants. Despite letting Killie away with studs all
the time he allowed play to continue for Killies goal despite Alan Main
lying unconcious. Then in a similar incident at the end refused to
penalise Paul Wright for a boot in Mains ribs. Durrant shook his hand
whilst being given a mild ticking off - probably enough to explain it
all.

Tom Brown
(Edinburgh) - Back to Ref League Table
John Rowbotham
(Kirkcaldy) - Back to Ref League Table
- 17/10/98 -Saints v Motherwell 29 (4
votes) - Not a dirty game by any means but well-controlled by
Baldy. Winning 5-0 helps to colour the view as well.
- 02/01/99 - Saints v Aberdeen 20 (3
votes)- Not a dirty game and Baldy had another cracker. Gave the
penalty correctly and was only let down by some dodgy offside decisions.
- 31/01/99 - Celtic v Saints 31 (4
votes) - good game and allowed the play to flow. Deducted marks
for allowing Mjallby to assauly Miguel for most of the match and for
ignoring the retaliation by Riseth on Scott.
John Underhill
(Edinburgh) - Back to Ref League Table
- 12/12/98 -Saints v Dundee 16 (4
votes) - Turned down a blatant penalty for Saints and managed to
let their players get away with so much hacking and timewasting it was
almost unbelievable.
Stuart Dougal
(Burnside) - Back to Ref League Table
- 26/09/98 -Saints v United 9 (10
votes) - Easily the worst one of the season with a soft red card
and multiple yellows for Saints. Did red-card Olofsson in an attempt to
even things up but after turning down 2 Saints penalties and letting
their defence murder McMahon this guy should never referee in Scotland
again. Makes Dallas look good.
- 31/10/98 - Pars v Saints 7 (2 votes)
- Nice to see that the above wasn't a fluke as Dougal continued his love
affair with Saints. A controversial Pars opener allowed after he
overruled the linesman flagging for a foul for Saints and continual
ignorance of the fouls on Bandito and Georgio as well as allowing the
Pars to take corners from wherever they chose. The guys an idiot.
- 13/02/99 - Livingston v Saints 12 (5
votes) - More consistency from Stuart the Saints Hater. Apart
from ignoring the continual fouls on Nathan and Del and the blatant
elbow in Dods face he did everything possible against Saints except
award the home side a penalty.
- 20/03/99 - Pars v Saints 0 (5 votes)
- The worst performance by far. Apart from refusing treatment to McQ
after he was assaulted by Petrie (never mind taking any action against
the Fife thug) Stuart the Saints Hater let Coyle away with blatant
handball, denied a Saints penaly and redcarded McQ for a handball.
Shite.

Ian Elsmlie
(Portlethen) - Back to Ref League Table
Jim McCluskey
(Stewarton) - Back to Ref League Table
- 18/08/98 - Falkirk v Saints 13 (3
votes) - Pretty poor as he turned down a perfectly valid penalty
for Saints and was very inconsistent at giving fouls with the Bairns
receiving most of the benefit. Still he only booked 2 Saints players and
took no shit from McAllisters diving.
- 19/09/98 - Saints v Aberdeen40 (6
votes) - Good game with a tendency to keep the play flowing as
much as possible. Booked Del for a soft challenge and wasn't helped by
some dodgy linesmen.
- 06/02/99 - Saints v United 13 (2
votes) - Another good game for McCluskey. Gave the penalty to
Saints correctly and kept the game flowing as much as possible
- 11/04/99 - Saints v TFOD 10 (3
votes)- Not a bad game but not helped by crap linesmen and an
apparent unwillingness to take action against Craporuso or Hendry for
fouls on Saints players.
- 08/05/99 - Saints v Well 40 (8
votes) - Good game although it wasn't really that dirty a match.
Seemed to miss a lot of handballs though.
Kenny Clark
(Paisley) - Back to Ref League Table
- 08/11/98 - Saints v TFOD 11 (7
votes) - Red-carded Kane and gave them 2 penalties as they humped
us 7-0, but managed to let Amoruso and Has-been Hendry away with
persistent fouling all night without even a caution. And as for not
awarding the penalty against McQ never mind sending Niemi off.
- 24/04/99 - Saints v Celtic 11 (2
votes) - A good game overall and was at least willing to show
some consistency. Still missed some blatant fouls by Lambert and
Goldilocks but one of the better performances.
- 15/05/99 - Killie v Saints 53 (11
votes) - Couple of bad penalty decisions but at least he was
inconsistent with both teams.
Bobby Orr
(Kilbarchan) - Back to Ref League Table
- 01/05/99 - Aberdeen v Saints 20 (5
votes) - Not a bad game although some of the decisions were
questionable. Still kept control well and at least restrained himself in
the cards department.
