Yet another crap start ending up in a
comprehensive victory for Saints. First half was dire with the defence all over
the place, the midfield non-existent and the forwards happy enough to punt long
balls into the box in the vain hope that Henry Smith would drop em.
Ayr
didnt really have any good chances in the first half - Main was on form and
their main threats were from ex-Saintees Isaac English and Kinnaird (yup
remember him?). Saints finally relieved the pressure 2 mins from half time with
some good one-twos between Phizzy, Georgio and O'Neil leading to a Phizzy shot
home.
Second half was all Saints tho Ayr did try to make a game of it.
Luggy obviously had major words with the team at half-time. Saints started to
look like a proper team and began to string plenty of passes together. The
second goal came after 53 mins when a long through ball from Georgio found
O'Neil whos shot was saved but who finally netted the rebound after Roddy and
Phizzy had attempts blocked.
The third came in 59 mins with a Preston
cross being put into his own net by everyones favourite donkey Mr Bobby Law, tho
Georgio would have buried it if Law had missed. No sooner had the "Hee-Haw"
chants died down than we were 4-0 up thanks again to a Georgio miss which
rebounded of Attila into the net - suffice to say that Attila looked totally
bemused for a few secs before accepting the cheers !!
There were
further chances for Scott and Tosh (replacing Roddy). Saints also played the
last 15 mins or so with 10 men cos Davidson had to be taken off hurt (looks like
a hamstring) and all subs were used - Whiteford replacing McQ at right back and
Farquhar coming on for Scott. Bookings also for McQ and Roddee though the latter
was totally undeserved. The bookings are mounting up tho and could cost us.
MoM for me was Georgio in the second half tho Main had an excellent
2nd half also catching every cross ball. Why the fuck Nicky Walker has been
picked for Scotland ahead of Main I dont know.
