Temple Of Saints - A Painful Lesson

Clydebank 2 Saints 1
Team :: Main,McQuillan,Preston,Farquhar,Weir,Griffin,Scott,O'Neil,Grant,
Georgio,Tosh
Subs :: Davidson,Jenkinson,Whiteford
Oh good back to normal with a shite display against probably the biggest
bogey team we have. Anyone who was at last seasons 3-0 drubbing at Kilbowie
in the B&Q need read no further - the same shite performance along with a
red card for a Saintee (Jim Weir in this case for being an arse).
Saints started off reasonably well with plenty of chances in the first
half-hour. Georgio missed a sitter, Tosh had a couple of good efforts and
Preston had a shot just wide. But as the game went on and the time-wasting
antics of the Bankies went unpunished you could see that Saints were losing
their discipline.
Weir had to go off to get stitches put in a head wound and on returning
to the field of play took a few steps onto the pitch without getting the
permission of ref Willie Young (or petty bastard in the black as he came to
be known). Booking No. 1.
Saints defence had fuck all to do in the first half tho Main did make one
good save. However it had to be said that Preston and ONeil on the left
didnt look 100% sharp and it was here that Bankies got the break 5 mins before
half-time with the Saints defence caught sleeping, to score their first. Cue
boos from the Saintees as the team left the park.
Second half was only a few mins old when McQ played a short corner to ONeil
who chipped the goalie from the edge of the box for the equaliser. Obviously
the Saints players were believing their own hype cos they then proceeded to
let Clydebank back into the game and to be honest didnt really look like
scoring.
Jenko was brought on to replace Tosh (bad move IMHO - Tosh looked a lot
sharper on the park), and Davidson on for Farquhar (possible ankle knock)
but Clydebank still managed to sneak the winner thanks to a goalmouth
scramble following a corner and some poor defending by Saints (and yes that
does include Danny the Boy Wonder).
Finally as if nothing else could get worse Weir decided to lash out during
a tackle - cue booking no. 2 and the long walk. And hes suspended for Tuesday
night - Sturrock should come down fucking heavily on him - that is no way
for a captain to behave.
