Saints finally get back to the top of the league tho the overall
performance was far from convincing. Whilst we were never in any real
danger, the finishing in front of goal was pretty awful and if we'd taken
all our chances the score would have been 7 or 8 for Saints.
Luggy made several changes from THAT game with Scotlands latest U21 star
Callum Davison getting a run at left-back with Preston dropped to the
bench. 16 year old Charlie King got his first start for the first team and
new signing Nick Dasovic from Trelleborg (tho hes actually a Canadian)
started in midfield.
Saints got off to an excellent start with the first goal coming in 4 mins
as an Attila header came back off the post only for Jim Weir to slot it
home getting his first goal for the club and making the bookies smile. 4
minutes later and it was 2-0 as a Jenko free-kick was headed home by
Roddy. After that tho Saints seemed to do the usual and ease up. East Fife
had nothing to offer up front and the Saints defence never looked in any
real danger. The new midfield partnership of Attila and Dasovic looked
fairly confident given their lack of experience of playing together.
However up front Charlie King was suffering from a lack of pace and Roddy
seemed to be struggling to beat any defenders.
Lindsay Hamilton in E Fifes goal was forced into 2 good saves in the
first half, one from a Jenko shot and an even better one from an Attila
rocket from the edge of the box.
Second half was more evenly balanced with E Fife using their subs to good
effect and playing the offside trap. Saints suffered from an apparent
inability to beat this and Roddy even managed to get himself booked for
dissent after disagreeing with the linesman when a goal was chalked off
for offside.
Georgio made it back into first-team action when he replaced King on the
hour and also scored Saints 3rd with a brilliant solo effort after 80 mins
finishing a good run off with a chip to beat the goalie. Preston replaced
Attila and Tosh came on for ONeil as Saints tried to press home. Callum
Davison had a few good runs up the wing but again Saints seemed to be
lacking in ideas in the box - lets hope it improves for the Scumdee on Sat
