Great - just as we think we've got back on the rails with the Forthbank win
somehow the Gods combined to give us a shit Saints team (Ochilview level), a
Falkirk team that were jammy bastards and a refereeing performance to make
Gerry Evans at Ibrox looks fucking excellent. Still at least we only had the
one sending-off.
It all started so well too with Roddy heading against the post early on
and a Jenko corner forcing Nelson to make a good save to stop it going into
the net. Then suddenly Falkirk started to find some room and combined with
some slack Saints defending forced a few corners. Saints of course employed
the traditional method of getting everyone back with the end result being
that a crap Jenko clearance fell to Ferguson on the edge of the box (although
there were plenty of Bairns there) who proceeded to shoot home to make it
1-0.
This resulted in Saints losing any sens of composure. Any ball played out
of defence was nothing more than a hopeful punt up the park, the centre of
midfield (ie Scott and Attila) went missing. Jenko stood on the touchline
like a tailors dummy, Fyhr was crap and Roddy and ONeil were crowded out
totally and got no time to play the ball. As expected this allowed Falkirk
to get a second courtesy of a deflection from Ferguson. They almost got a
3rd but Main forced it over the bar.
Fyhr was replaced by Tosh in the second-half but to no avail. Saints had
a couple of attempts from ONeil and Roddy but the Falkirk defence played well.
Jenko began to receive the ball more but faced up with the awesome task of
having to beat ex-Hibee Tortolano he just passed back to Preston AND STOOD
STILL - fuck I thought wingers were supposed to move up the park!!
Kenny Clarks refereeing became a lot worse at this point. Weir was booked
for raising the leg - fair enough perhaps but John O'Neil almost had his head
taken off a few mins earlier and we didnt even get the fucking foul. Tosh and
McQuillan also got booked for nothing offences and to round off a lovely
afternoon Phizzy (who should have been subbed a lot earlier) was sent off
for an off-the-ball incident (fraid I missed it). Hopefully Luggy will throw
the book at him and let Tosh get another run in the first team
.
A word about the tip they call Brockville - the away support is now crammed
into one corner of the terracing - still I suppose that means no Saintees
can get hurt if the ancient enclosure collapses.
Think I'll go get pissed.
