Given the injury/suspension list Saints had and also the fact that they
played pretty shite in front of goal in the first half I suppose this can be
looked on as a good result - but Christ they made hard work of it.
To be honest the better chances fell to St Mirren in the first half with
Ricky Gillies unlucky with an excellent volley and Main force to make 2 or 3
saves from low shots. At the other end Saints seemed to be building up well
in midfield with Attila and O'Neil fighting well but again Jenko was left
standing on his own on the wing and up front Roddy and Fyhr looked pretty
useless.
Second half was a lot more entertaining with Jenko being used more on the
wing and finally having the guts to run past the defenders. The first goal
came in 61 mins thanks to a Jenko cross which met Attila running on to it.
5 mins later Fyhr was replaced by Fergie to great applause. Somehow I reckon
that will be the last of the big Swede.
69 mins saw Saints second with a thru ball from midfield being met by
Fergie who headed back fro Roddy to head home. The third followed soon after
with Attila again getting on the end of a Jenko cross.
Andy Whiteford was brought on to replace Griffin (who obviously looked less
than 100% fit) and Farquhar for Attila. With 2 mins to go Saints nabbed the
fourth thanks to Fergie running through (and looking like he fouled the
defender) to slot home (25-1 at the bookies ya bass !!!!)
Overall a pretty good performance and its good to see Fergie back on some
kind of form again.
