St Johnstone made it two wins out of two on their Irish tour with yesterday's comfortable 3-0 victory against University College Dublin adding to Friday night's 4-1 demolition of Shamrock Rovers.
The students represented a sterner test than Rovers, but Saints dominatedfor long spells. Leigh Jenkinson and Danny Griffin weren't far off with long range shots in the 15th and 17th minutes before a goalkeeping error gifted Saints the lead four minutes later.
UCD keeper Seamus Kelly inexplicably threw the ball straight at Saints'Keith O'Halloran some 25 yards out and he cushioned a header to SteveTosh, who side-footed home from about 15 yards. The goal stood despite UCD's appeals that Tosh was in an offside position.
Tosh was unlucky not to increase Saints' lead five minutes later when he volleyed over after a delightful one-two with O'Halloran. Ian Ferguson and the impressive George O'Boyle both came close to scoring before half-time as St Johnstone got on top.
Paul Sturrock's side doubled their advantage seven minutes into the second half when Ferguson, who scored twice on Friday night, walked the ball home after Tosh had worked another one-two with O'Boyle before crossing. Ferguson got his second four minutes later, turning well in the box to rifle home Jenkinson's cross from the left.
