Manager Sandy Clark was certainly not amused after watching his inconsistent Saints surrender a two goal lead to lose out.
The driving force of Saints' Kieran McAnespie and Allan Preston, along with the pace of Nathan Lowndes, tested the home defence which cracked twice in the opening spell. John O'Neil headed home the opener for Saints from a McAnespie corner then the ever dangerous Roddy Grant pounced as defender Paul Jack hesitated to clear a Preston through ball and the big striker left keeper Scott Thomson helpless.
Midway through the half, Saints appeared to replace their early composure with bouts of complacency and Steve McCormick reduced the leeway in 28 minutes.
Jim Dick equalised in the 61st minute from the penalty spot and six minutes later McCormick netted his second and Airdrie's third with a simple tap in.
