Out of the station and we head to the Place Canton where the main meeting point of the Saints fans is planned. Stop at the terraces and get our first look at the harbour - bit of a slum really. Just some old boats and condominiums - think Scone with some water. Anyway it doesn't take long for the noise to reach the eardrums. A quick trip down the escalators and we hit the small kiosk bar outside the shopping centre. The crowds are starting to arrive......
along with their flags.....

A quick stop established that the drink was already flowing. Having sworn
to stay off the booze until Legend got his third goal (not that I was
hungover or anything) it was time to hit the sights and see what Monaco
had to offer. Well the answer is straightforward .....money. And boats.
And Ferraris. And Mercs. Walking round the harbour and up towards the
casino and the sight of Saintees resplendent in kilts, scarfs and tops
ancient and modern (including at least one Wendy Who? T-shirt) was a sight
to behold. And thanks to the guys who gave me a quick chorus of "Woah
Casanova" on the way to the casino - for some reason my wife started
to walk well in front of me for a while.

Anyway
after seeing the hordes at the Cafe de Paris it was time to head back down
to the pier (playing a game of count the sports cars en route). The main
harbour was getting busy with Saintees enjoying the sights and the beers -
I wasn't allowed to enjoy too many sights without getting slapped again.
Especially when the thongs were on show at the Lido - you never see
anything like that at Perth Leisure Pool....probably just as well really.
Christ, even their Aberdeen fans looked attractive (see right) !!!!
By now it was getting on for 6pm and time to head back to the Place
Canton for a McDonalds and the pre-match build-up.
