Back
to the Place Canton then and the place was starting to get busy with one
or two banners appearing. Although in certain cases (see right), the
slogans might have been deemed offensive in other locations (i.e. certain
rubbish tips in Juteopolis), a lack of Tayside's finest porkers meant a
chance for the fans to relax and enjoy their hatred of all things
Hilltoonesque.
The appearance of Mr Roddy Legend Grant led to a chorus of Happy Birthday
for the Saints favourite, whilst Paula managed to get a postcard written
to Geoff the FairWeather Chairman, informing him of the delights of the
Monaco atmosphere.
As with Vaasa, we were soon joined by the two pipers who proceeded to
lead us through the repetoire of Saints favourites, whilst a bunch of
footballs were produced and kicked all over the square in a mass
keepie-uppy session which threatened to smash the windows of the Prince's
Motor Museum.
As for the locals, for the most part they stayed well clear but the crowds
in McDonalds and several of the younger ladies did join in the fun -
probably had something to do with the age-old question of what we wear
under our kilts.
The biggest cheer of the day went up around 6.30 when the players
bus went past en route to the ground. And shortly after, with the pipers
leading us on as per the Vaasa tradition, we began the walk to the ground.

Well actually it was only about a 5 minute walk past some shops to get
there, although for most of us it wasn't the easiest of places to find.
Think of Bogheads camouflage but replace it with a glorious condominium
frontage and you get an idea. And of course no Saints trip abroad would be
complete without the traditional arseing around for the TV cameras......

Then it was onto the stadium itself.........
